Short Title and Commencement. 1. (i) These regulations may be called the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Insurance Advertisements and Disclosure) Regulations, 2021. (ii) These regulations shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. Objective 2. (i) To ensure that the insurers, intermediaries or insurance intermediaries adopt fair, honest and transparent practices while issuing advertisements and avoid practices that tend to impair the confidence of the public. (ii) To ensure that the advertisement is relevant, fair and in simple language enabling informed decision making. Definitions 3. Unless the context otherwise requires- (a) "Authority" means the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India established under sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999 (41 of 1999); (b) ―Advertisement‖ means a communication, issued through any mode or medium, addressed to the public or section of it, the purpose of which is to influence the opinion or behavior of those to whom it is addressed and includes insurance and institutional advertisements.
