As per notification in the Punjab Government Gazette dated 19th April, the Government of Punjab has enacted the the Punjab State Development Tax Act, 2018. The Act is enacted to provide for the levy and collection of a tax on professions, trades, callings and employment for the benefit of the State of Punjab. Section 4 provides for the Levy and charge of tax, wherein it shall be charged as per the Schedule under the Act for all such persons who are assessable: (1) under the Head Income from Salaries and/ or Wages; and (2) under the Head Income from Business and/ or Profession, as per the Income Tax Act, 1961 shall be levied at Rs. 200/- per month respectively
As per notification published in the official gazette dated 18th April 2018, the Tamil Nadu Government has amended the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen) Rules, 1981. The amendment has made the following changes: (i) The employer has to now maintain up-to-date list in Form 1 only at the end of each year instead of end of each half year, list shall be exhibited for perusal of workman; (ii) The up-to-date list so compiled has to be sent to the Inspector concerned within a fortnight from the expiry of the year instead of each half year, with a declaration that the list has been exhibited for perusal of workman; (iii) The employer does not have to furnish annual return in Form 2 if a combined annual return in Form No.22 as required in Rule 100 (2) of the Tamil Nadu Factories Rules, 1950 has been furnished; (iv) Form 2 has been amended to substitute half yearly returns with annual returns
Government of Kerala, Labour and Skills (E) Department has revised the variable dearness allowance for employment in Shops and Commercial Establishment and employment in Computer Software Sector. As per the Notification No. P3.Pdl.1/2018/DES, the Consumer Price Index (Cost of Living Index) Numbers applicable to employees in employment under the Minimum Wages Act (Central Act XI of 1948) for the month of February 2018 are as ascertained by the Director General of Economics & Statistics under clause (C) of Section 2 of the Act
As per EPFO circular dated 13th April 2018, the EPFO has cited the instructions issued in circular dated 27th February whereas it was directed that in case the amount of claim settlement is above rupees ten lakhs for PF claims and rupees five lakhs in respect of the EPS withdrawal claims, the claim form must be accepted through online mode only. As per this circular dated 13th April 2018, the EPFO has considered grievances raised by members/claimants (including International workers) in filing the online claims and has directed that the mandatorily online claim will be temporarily on hold so that the offline claims can also be accepted in all cases. EPFO has further directed that the claims received online from claimants will be sent online to employers for further verification, only after which the claim will be settled. The employers have been also directed to return the claim within three days to the EPFO office either accepting or rejecting the claim

As per notification number G.S.R. 353 (E) published in the official Gazette of India 10th April 2018, the Central Government has extended Punjab Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Act, 2014 to the Union Territory of Chandigarh with effect from 10th April 2018. Furthermore, as per the enforcement of the Punjab LWF (Amendment) Act, the rates of LWF for Chandigarh will be at five rupees per month for employee and twenty rupees per month to be contributed by the employer for every such employee

As per press note released, Commissioner of Labour Telangana, Hyderabad and the Competent authority under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 has declared the CPI points for calculation of variable dearness allowance for the state of Telangana with effect from 1st April 2018
